Waterjet Cutting
A waterjet makes no impact on the material being machined because of the physics of the cutting process. Similar "flexi-tool" processes, such as plasma and laser, leave a heat affected zone, hardening the material and preventing secondary machining processes, such as milling and tapping. Some materials (such as Stainless and Titanium) will even be work hardened from a single pass of a milling tool. Additionally, there is very little force transmitted to the material from a waterjet, and almost no heating, so warping, clamping, and other concerns are simplified.
3D Printing
With 3D printing you can quickly and easily make prototypes or small production runs of very complex three-dimensional parts. Additive manufacturing means your part can be printed up, layer by layer, creating features impossible to machine traditionally.
The latest generation of 3D printers have excellent resolution and are very economical.
